Why You Should Write

At Tolentino Teaching, our mission is to create writers.

We believe humans are driven by ideas. And the best way to find oneself and create oneself is to take action on our ideas.

You see, at Tolentino Teaching we believe in the individual. We believe the quirks, desires, dreams, and ponderings of each person–that inner voice that is unique to you–well–that, we believe, is your calling. And everytime you refuse to take action on your calling, part of your uniqueness and individuality dies.

At Tolentino Teaching, we believe writing is the first step to bringing a person’s individuality to life. Writing is no different than thinking. The better we can articulate ideas–in a clear and focused way–the better we can see ourselves, our vision, and what the world needs. This envisioning, this grueling process of organizing our thinking, is what equips us to take action on the world.

At Tolentino Teaching, we believe writing is what grounds us and solidifies our vision. It is an individual act that shapes us so we can fit into the collective, and serve others.

At Tolentino Teaching we believe that writing means different things for different people. Writing is how we build a business. Writing is how we write a memoir. Writing is how we find peace. Writing is how we fight injustice. Writing is how we tell stories about our family and friends. Writing is how we preserve our culture. Writing is how we set goals. Writing is how we pursue truth.

At Tolentino Teaching, we believe that teachers play a crucial role in teaching students not only how to write, but how to take action on ideas. At Tolentino teaching, our mission is to create writers.
