My goal is for students to see themselves as writers—capable, creative, and in control of their words. I want them to view language not just as rules to follow, but as a tool they can shape to express who they are.
One simple but powerful way to build this identity is by teaching them how sentence length affects rhythm. When students learn to play with sentence variety, they begin to feel the craft of writing—and see their voice taking shape on the page.
