Write the Worst Essay of Your Life! (On Purpose)
When students are gripped by stress and fear, creativity suffers. The following activity aims to “lower expectations” with the hope of stimulating ideas. Many of my advanced students will hesitate to write until they believe they have the “perfect” idea. This self-imposed pressure hinders creativity. The goal of this task is simple: stop overthinking, and start writing. Once students force themselves to write – ideas appear.
