Is a Hot Dog a Sandwich?
For many of my students, it is the “silly” questions that yield the best debates. It is when my students are focused on ideas and arguments that their writing shines. If you are looking for a topic that builds on prior knowledge, and get student riled up – try this: Is a hot dog a sandwich? Word of the Day: Inept
Inept is an adjective meaning having or showing no skill; clumsy.

Word of the Day: Contentious
Contentious is an adjective that means causing or likely to cause an argument; controversial. A heated argument between two people is often said to be contentious The solution to homelessness in California is often contentious because people disagree how much money should be spent, and what the money should be spent on.

Word of the Day: Anomaly
An anomaly is something that deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected.
