Quotes are a great tool for introducing students to complex ideas in a bite-sized way.
I especially love giving students the option of choosing the quote they want to respond to.
There is something magical that occurs when students are given choice, an idea, and time to write.
No graphic organizers.
No set structure to follow.
Just tell students to demonstrate a “mind at work.”
That’s it.
Here are three worksheets that worked tremendously with my high school students.
The worksheets feature Tupac Shakur, Steve Jobs, and Maya Angelou.
I will be developing many more of these worksheets – so stay tuned!
