Think-Pair-Share is a core activity in my classroom, which is why I prioritize practicing the process with my students.
I want them to have a clear understanding of expectations: they must think and write their thoughts, discuss (pair) with a partner, and share with the class.
Below, you’ll find an introductory video and activity, followed by additional practice exercises to reinforce the process.
Worksheet for Video:
Think-Pair-Share With Sentence Stems
- The teacher poses a question.
- Students write the question at the top of their worksheet.
- Step 1: Silent Writing – Individually, students write their response in ink.
- Step 2: Partner Exchange – Students share their responses with a partner and summarize their partner’s response on their worksheet.
- Step 3: Class Synthesis – Using their initial response and their partner’s perspective, students refine and prepare a final response to share with the class.
