Trivia Activities
If I have 10-20 minutes to spare at the end of class, I love giving trivia. Students gather into teams and compete. Trivia makes for a great way to end class on a positive note.

Is a Hot Dog a Sandwich?
For many of my students, it is the “silly” questions that yield the best debates. It is when my students are focused on ideas and arguments that their writing shines. If you are looking for a topic that builds on prior knowledge, and get student riled up – try this: Is a hot dog a sandwich? I have included a video explanation, worksheet, and additional reading from the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council (NHDSC).

Word of the Day: Inept
Inept is an adjective meaning having or showing no skill; clumsy.
